How to use What Is My IP
There is nothing to press: the address appears the moment the page loads. Copy it when a support technician asks for it, when you configure remote access to a home server, or when you check whether your VPN is actually on — if the country shown isn't the one you connected to, it isn't working.
IPv4 looks like four numbers separated by dots and is still what most sites see. IPv6 is longer, written in hexadecimal groups, and slowly replacing it. If both appear, your connection speaks both dialects; sites pick whichever they prefer.
What your address reveals — and the clock attached to it
An IP names your internet provider and a rough location: usually the right city, sometimes only the right region. Websites use that to pick a language, show local prices and guess your clock. That last guess is why a site can greet you with the right "good morning" — your address places you in a time zone before you've typed a word.

- Why is my IP different today than yesterday?
- Most home connections get a dynamic address that the provider reassigns now and then — after a router reboot, or simply on schedule. Only a specifically ordered static address stays fixed.
